On June 10th at approximately 2:00a.m. Hamden Police responded to the parking lot of 940 Dixwell Avenue on the report of suspicious activity. A concerned citizen advised police that a male was standing in the area, threatening patrons from a nearby bar. In addition, he was in the possession of a firearm.

Moments later, Officer Keron Bryce detained the individual, James McKnight-Woods, who was “pacing back and forth in front of the door of the bar.” Officer John Glass located a fully loaded 9mm handgun “tucked” in fence next to the bar. Further investigation revealed that the firearm was stolen in South Carolina. McKnight-Woods was subsequently arrested and transported to police headquarters.

Hamden Police arrested James McKnight-Woods, 31, of 171 Frank Street, New Haven. He was charged with Carrying a Pistol without a Permit and Possession of a Stolen Firearm. McKnight-Woods was released after posting a $10,000.00 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on June 25th.
