On June 28th at approximately 2:30a.m. Hamden Police responded to the area of West Woods Road on the report of suspicious activity.

Investigation revealed that several individuals were forcibly entering parked motor vehicles. The individuals were traveling in three different vehicles. 

Moments later, Sergeant Michael Sigmon observed the three vehicles on Old Coach Highway. He engaged one of the individuals in a foot pursuit. The foot pursuit was unsuccessful. The individuals then entered the three vehicles and fled at a high rate of speed. Sergeant Sigmon’s police vehicle, which was unoccupied, was struck by one of the fleeing vehicles.

Shortly thereafter, Officer Eric Hallstrom pursued one of the vehicles on Whitney Avenue. The operator of the vehicle, “slammed on his brakes”, causing Officer Hallstrom’s vehicle to strike the stolen vehicle. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Southington.  The two occupants were promptly arrested. They are both juveniles. 

Hamden Police arrested a 15 year-old and a 16 year-old juvenile. They were charged with Larceny in the 2nd Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Larceny in the 2nd Degree, Burglary in the 3rd Degree and Escape from Custody from a State Institution. They were both remanded to custody.
