On April 13, 2018 Hamden Police responded to the area of Dixwell Avenue and Woodin Street on the report of a shooting.

Investigation revealed that the victim, a 46 year-old Hamden resident, stopped at a service station to purchase gasoline. While seated inside of his vehicle, he was approached by an individual, who has been identified as Phillip Holmes. The victim opened the door of his vehicle, which caused Holmes to “stumble backwards.” The victim then observed a firearm in Holmes’ hand. The victim subsequently fled in his vehicle towards Fourth Street. Holmes fired numerous gunshots, striking the victim’s vehicle multiple times.

Detective Scott Levenduski conducted the investigation, which led to the application of an arrest warrant for Holmes. The court approved the arrest warrant application. 

On July 10th, members of the United States Marshal Service Violent Fugitive Task Force, with the assistance of the New Haven Police Department located Holmes at 134 Putnam Street, 2nd floor, New Haven. He was transported to the Hamden Police Department.

Hamden Police arrested Phillip Holmes, 31, of 134 Putnam Street, 2nd floor, New Haven. He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree, Illegal Discharge of a Firearm, Criminal Attempt to Commit Assault in the 1st Degree and Criminal Use of a Weapon. Holmes, who was detained on a court-ordered $400,000.00 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on July 24, 2018.

Holmes is on Federal Probation.
