On November 13, 2017 Hamden Police responded to Dudley Street on the report of a shooting. Moments later, officers located Leeandre Benton, 18, of Hamden, near the Farmington Canal Trail. Benton had been shot multiple times. Benton was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead the next day.

Detective Jomo Crawford conducted an extensive investigation, which led to the applications of arrest warrants for Robert Moye and a 17 year-old New Haven resident. The court approved the arrest warrant applications.

On July 10th and 11th Hamden Police arrested Moye and the now 18 year-old. Moye, 22, of 16 Lander Street, 2nd floor, New Haven was charged with Felony Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery in the 1st Degree. The 18 year-old, a New Haven resident, was charged with Felony Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery in the 1st Degree. He was detained on a court-ordered $2,500,000.00 bond. He was arraigned at Meriden Superior Court on July 11th.

A third arrest is expected soon.
