On November 13, 2017 Hamden Police responded to Dudley Street on the report of a shooting. Moments later, officers located Leeandre Benton, 18, of Hamden, near the Farmington Canal Trail. Benton had been shot multiple times. Benton was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead the next day.
Detective Jomo Crawford conducted an extensive investigation, which led to the application of arrest warrant for Brennen Coleman. The court approved the arrest warrant application.
On July 17, 2018 Hamden Police arrested Coleman at Meriden Superior Court. Coleman, 21, of 95 Bassett Street, New Haven was charged with Felony Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery in the 1st Degree. Coleman, who was detained on a court-ordered $2,500,000.00 court-ordered bond, was arraigned at Meriden Superior Court today.
Brennen Coleman is the third person arrested for the murder of Leeandre Benton.
