On July 20, 2018 at 6:48p.m. Hamden Police responded to the report of a “pedestrian struck” on Dixwell Avenue, in the vicinity of Old Dixwell Avenue.

Investigation revealed that Kristin Wilczynski, 50, of North Haven was attempting to cross the street, when she was struck by a motor vehicle that was driven by Courtney Bothwell, 28, of North Haven. Bothwell was traveling southbound on Dixwell Avenue and was merging onto Old Dixwell Avenue when the collision occurred.

Hamden Police and Hamden Fire Rescue personnel rendered medical assistance. Wilczynski was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where she died shortly thereafter.
