The Hamden Police Department recently participated in the Connecticut Department of Transportation’s 2018 Distracted Driving High Visibility Enforcement Campaign.

Hamden Police conducted enforcement between August 1st and August 15th. Officers were stationed at various locations, including Dixwell Avenue and Whitney Avenue.

The results of the enforcement campaign are as follows:

- 635 infractions (tickets) were issued for cell phone use/distracted driving
- 11 infractions (tickets) were issued for other motor vehicle violations
- 6 misdemeanor summonses, which require a court appearance, were issued for various motor vehicle violations.

Hamden Police urge motorists to park in a safe location before using their cell phone.
