On August 10, 2018 Hamden Police responded to Hometown Wine and Liquors, 60 Skiff Street on the report of larceny.
Investigation revealed that Olevia Cook exited the store without paying for 4 bottles of liquor, valued at $84.00. The store owner attempted to detain Cook. A “good Samaritan”, who has been identified as a 29 year-old Hamden resident, attempted to assist the storeowner. Cook subsequently punched the “good Samaritan” in the face and spit on him. Cook then entered a vehicle and ran over his foot.
Hamden Police located Cook in New Haven. He was arrested and transported to police headquarters.
Hamden Police arrested Olevia Cook, 57, of 69 Park Avenue, Bloomfield. He was charged with Robbery in the 3rd Degree, Assault in the 2nd Degree, 2 counts of Assault in the 3rd Degree and Breach of Peace in the 2nd Degree. Cook, who was detained on a $50,000.00 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on August 20th.
