On January 11, 2018 Hamden Police responded to the intersection of North Street and Warren Street on the report of a street robbery.

Investigation revealed that a 17 year-old West Haven resident was awaiting a bus at the bus stop located on Dixwell Avenue and North Street. She was approached by Howard Bookert and 2 other individuals. Bookert “hit her hand” causing her cell phone to fall to the ground. Bookert then grabbed the cell phone and fled on foot with the 2 other individuals.

Detective Jomo Crawford conducted an extensive investigation, which led to the application of an arrest warrant for Bookert. The court approved the arrest warrant application.

On August 24, 2018 Detective Joseph Liguori observed Bookert operating a motor vehicle in New Haven. With the assistance of the New Haven Police Department, Bookert was arrested and turned over to the Hamden Police Department.

Hamden Police arrested Howard Bookert, 20, of 116 West Easton Street, Hamden. He was charged with Robbery in the 3rd Degree and Larceny in the 6th Degree. Bookert, who was detained on a $50,000.00 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on September 7, 2018.
