On May 7, 2018 Hamden Police received a larceny complaint from the owner of a Connolly Parkway business. The complainant, the owner of a “Home Health Care Agency”, advised police that approximately $68,000.00 was embezzled from her company.

Investigation revealed that an employee was hired to manage payroll and bookkeeping. The employee subsequently deposited nearly $19,000.00 in stolen funds into her boyfriend, Anthony Washington’s bank account. Washington was also employed at the home health care agency as a “companion.” Further investigation revealed that while Washington was incarcerated in prison for 10 months in 2017, he continued to receive stolen funds via direct deposit into his bank account.

Detective Scott Levenduski conducted an investigation, which led to the application of an arrest warrant for Washington. The court approved the arrest warrant application.

On August 28, 2018 Hamden Police arrested Washington and transported him to police headquarters. Washington, 42, of 156 Bassett Street, New Haven was charged with Larceny in the 1st Degree. Washington, who was detained on a court-ordered $10,000.00 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on September 11, 2018.
