On October 21st Hamden Police met with a 20 year-old local college student regarding a sexual assault.

The victim advised police that at approximately 10:30p.m., she left a local New Haven bar, with 2 friends. They subsequently entered a motor vehicle that was operated by Elsadiq Eltigani. While being transported to Hamden, Eltigani continuously touched the victim in an inappropriate manner. The victim attempted to escape, but Eltigani prevented it.

Detective Joseph Liguori conducted an extensive investigation, which led to the application of an arrest warrant for Eltigani. The court approved the arrest warrant application.

On November 17th Detective Liguori and Detective Donald Remillard arrested Eltigani as he exited his West Haven residence. Eltigani, 52, of 468 Third Avenue, West Haven was charged with Sexual Assault in the 3rd Degree and Unlawful Restraint in the 1st Degree. He was detained at police headquarters on a $100,000.00 court-ordered bond. He is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on November 30th.
