On October 4, 2018 at approximately 8:00p.m. Hamden Police was notified of a potential threat that was made against Hamden High School students on social media.

Upon observing the threat on social media, the Hamden High School community immediately notified the administrative staff. The Hamden Police Department was promptly contacted and an investigation was conducted.

Hamden Police subsequently arrested a 17 year-old Hamden High School student. He was charged with Threatening, Breach of Peace and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon (Machete). The juvenile is scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court in New Haven.

The Hamden Police Department would like to acknowledge the collective effort by students and the Hamden High School administrative staff in preventing a potential crisis.
