On June 25, 2022 at approximately 7:00 PM, officers from the Hamden Police Department responded to Dixwell Avenue near Homestead Avenue on a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a motorcycle was travelling northbound on Dixwell Avenue and collided with a vehicle that was travelling southbound on Dixwell Avenue. The operator of the motorcycle was transported by ambulance to Yale New Haven Hospital with serious injuries. The road was closed for several officers while officers investigated.
The motorcyclist, Jamar Crenshaw, age 38 of New Haven, later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
