The Hamden Police Department is investigating two armed robberies at gun-point that took place on July 11th & 12th, 2022. The robberies occurred on Giles Street and Helen Street during the afternoon and early evening hours. At the time of the robberies, the victims were meeting someone regarding fraudulent “car sale” transactions that were listed on various social media platforms.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit are actively investigating the robberies. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Hamden Police Department at 203-230-4000. Callers may remain anonymous.

The Hamden Police Department would like to remind the community of some very important crime-prevention safety tips regarding these types of transactions:
- Understand that some seller profiles or listings on social media may be fraudulent.

- Meet in a public place, preferably well lit and with security cameras.
- Have someone with you during any sale transactions.
- Do not carry large amounts of cash or any other valuables on your person.
- If you sense trouble, leave the area as quick as possible.
