On July 25, 2022, at approximately 6:15 PM, Hamden Police Officers Rachel Zinni and Oscar Soler conducted a motor vehicle stop on Dixwell Avenue near George Street. The registered owner and driver of the vehicle, Cody Mallard, was wanted on two outstanding arrest warrants.
During the course of the investigation, police seized two firearms and approximately one pound of marijuana from Mallard’s vehicle. One of the firearms seized by police was reported stolen in New Haven.
Cody Mallard, age 28 of New Haven, was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Firearm, two counts of Carrying a Pistol without a Permit, two counts of Illegal Possession of a Weapon in a Vehicle, Theft of a Firearm, and Illegal Possession of a Cannabis Substance.
Mallard was transferred to the custody of the Meriden Police Department for the outstanding arrest warrants. He is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on August 22, 2022 for the Hamden charges.
