The Town of Hamden has experienced multiple thefts of storm drain grates that were stolen over the past few weeks. The thefts occurred at various locations throughout town, often on isolated streets. Besides the financial impact this causes the town, it also creates a serious hazard to anyone walking or driving near the basins.
The Hamden Police Department is actively investigating these thefts. Any suspicious activity that is observed near catch basins should be reported to police. Any resident with video surveillance, that can assist police in these investigations, is also encouraged to contact police. Callers may remain anonymous.
