On February 17, 2022 at approximately 1:00 AM, Hamden Police Officers responded to a shooting that occurred in the parking lot of the Dixwell Social Lounge; 940 Dixwell Avenue. A 34-year-old Hamden man suffered a gunshot wound to his foot during the shooting.
Detective Jomo Crawford, along with detectives from the Hamden Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit, HPD Crime Scene Unit and New Haven Shooting Task Force conducted an extensive investigation into the shooting.
Donald Woodson, age 39 of Meriden, was later identified as one of two shooters in the parking lot that night.
On October 12, 2022, Woodson was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant related to the Hamden shooting. He was charged with criminal attempt to commit assault 1st degree, reckless endangerment 1st degree, criminal possession of a firearm, illegal discharge of a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit. He was held on $500,000.00 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on October 26, 2022.
Hamden police previously arrested Montrell Brewer, age 30 of New Haven, for his involvement in the shooting. He was charged with criminal attempt to commit assault 1st degree, criminal possession of a firearm, reckless endangerment 1st degree, illegal discharge of a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit.
Brewer was arrested on July 26, 2022 and held on a $250,000.00 bond.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
