On March 1st, 2023, the Hamden Police Department arrested Ryan Moore, age 35 of New Haven, for the murder of Tyishoun Matheney.
On August 8th, 2021, shortly after midnight, the Hamden Police Department responded to the area of Goodrich Street and Butler Street for a report of a gunshot victim. The male, later identified as Tyishoun Matheney, was pronounced deceased several hours later at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Detective Jomo Crawford, along with members of the Hamden Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit, conducted an extensive investigation into the shooting. Numerous agencies assisted with the homicide investigation including Detective Bleck Joseph of the New Haven Police Department, Captain Lewis, Lieutenant Roberts and Officer Torres all from the Department of Correction, the New Haven Correctional Intelligence Unit and Emanuel Hatzikostas of the FBI.
At the time of his arrest, Ryan Moore was in custody at the Department of Corrections on unrelated charges. He was charged with Murder, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Carrying a Pistol without a Permit and was held on a $2,500,000 court set bond. Moore is scheduled to appear in court later this month.
