On March 9th, 2023 at approximately 7:00pm. The Hamden Police Department responded to the area of Dixwell Avenue and Beacon Street for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.
The investigation revealed that John Gursky, 67, of Hamden, was crossing Dixwell Avenue on foot, when he was struck by a vehicle traveling Southbound. Gursky was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital where he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
The Hamden Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team responded, and Dixwell Avenue was closed for several hours due to the investigation. The road has since reopened and the accident remains under investigation.
