On June 25th, 2022 at approximately 7pm, Officers from the Hamden Police Department responded to the area of Dixwell Avenue and Foch Street for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle. Members of the Hamden Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene to investigate. The operator of the motorcycle, Jamar Crenshaw, 38, of New Haven, was pronounced deceased a short time later at Yale New Haven Hospital. Sergeant Brett Ferrara conducted an extensive investigation and an arrest warrant was granted for Lemond Scott, age 27, out of New Haven. Scott was the operator of the other motor vehicle involved in this incident.
On March 20th, 2023 at 1130am, the Hamden Police Department took Lemond Scott into custody. He was charged with Manslaughter in the Second Degree, Speeding, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License and Reckless Driving. Scott was held on a $75,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court later this month.
