Stolen Motor Vehicles – 3 Arrests
On 05/07/2023 at 6:02 am Hamden Police Officers responded to the area to Spring Garden Street on the report of two suspicious vehicles which appeared to be breaking into parked cars. Officers arrived and observed a 2015 Hyundai Tucson and a 2000 Kia Forte driving recklessly in the area. The vehicles turned onto Elihu Street where both vehicles crashed into parked cars on Elihu Street and Harmon Street.
Three male suspects bailed out and fled the scene on foot. Officers pursued the subjects and were able to apprehend all 3 short time later. All 3 subjects are juveniles. One is a 12-year-old and the other two are 13 years old. Officers Hailey Zarzuela, Michael White, Matthew Buccitti, Edward Stoor, Richard Cotto, and Eric Hallstrom assisted in this investigation. The Hyundai Tucson and the Kia Forte were previously reported as Stolen Motor Vehicles.
All 3 juveniles were charged with Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Conspiracy to Commit Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, and Interfering with a Police Officer.
Drug Arrest – 1 Arrest
On 05/05/2023 at 11:46 pm Off. Hailey Zarzuela stopped a motor vehicle near Mix Avenue after she saw the vehicle committing several motor vehicle violations near the rear of the Hamden Plaza. During the course of the stop, Off. Zarzuela discovered the front seat passenger was in possession of a quantity of illegal drugs and packaging material. The passenger, Jerome Houser 05/15/1994, of 104 Poplar Street, New Haven, CT was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Sell and Possession of Hallucinogens with Intent to Sell.
34 bags of Marijuana weighing 5.07 ounces and 8 bags of Mushrooms weighing 2.74 ounces along with were seized. The operator was cited for M/V charges.
