On May 22nd, 2023 at 4:30pm, Detective Gabriel Garcia and Detective Robert O’Neill were conducting a follow up investigation in the area of Goodrich Street and Butler Street. The follow up investigation was in regards to the shooting that occurred on May 16th, 2023.
While canvassing the area, the Detectives witnessed a male walking on Shelton Avenue that fit the description of a party that was possibly injured in the shooting incident on May 16th. Detectives then observed the male adjusted a concealed object in the front of his waistband. The Detectives stopped to talk to the male, identified as Rayshawn Pender, 28 of New Haven, and discovered a concealed 9mm handgun in his waistband.
Pender was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm and was held on a $100,000 bond. He has a court date in June at Meriden Superior Court.
