Street Robbery – USPS Postal Carrier – Treadwell Street – 07/15/2023
On 07/15/2023, at 3:43 pm, Hamden Police Officers responded to 245 Treadwell Street for the report of a street robbery with a firearm. The victim was a USPS Postal Carrier. The victim told Police Officers that he was delivering mail on his route on Treadwell Street when a Black Jeep SUV with heavy tinted windows parked behind his postal truck. A passenger of the Jeep, who was described to be a black male, wearing a black ski mask/hat, a dark gray long-sleeved shirt, and black pants, exited the Jeep and approached him. He stated that the suspect displayed a handgun and demanded his work keys. The victim handed over his work keys to the suspect. The suspect got back into the Jeep and fled onto Leeder Hill Drive. The Major Crimes Unit has assumed this investigation. Anyone with information please call 203-230-4000. All calls will be kept confidential. 

Carjacking – Goodrich Street – 07/18/2023
On 07/18/23, at 3:21 am, Hamden Police Officers responded to 328 Goodrich Street for an armed carjacking complaint. Officers spoke with the victim and learned that he was walking towards his vehicle, parked on Goodrich Street, when he was confronted by an unknown suspect, described as a black male approximately 5’7”, stocky build, clad in an orange ski mask, white t-shirt, and dark colored shorts. The suspect, armed with a handgun, ordered him to hand over his possessions, including the keys to his motor vehicle. The victim complied with the suspect’s demands, and he last observed the suspect fleeing the scene in the victim’s vehicle, turning onto Butler Street into New Haven. Hamden Police Officers searched the area and located the victim’s vehicle abandoned in New Haven a short time later. The Major Crimes Unit has assumed this investigation.
