The Hamden Police Department, in collaboration with the Connecticut Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office, will be participating in the 2023 Speed & Aggressive Driving Enforcement. Hamden has received Federal Funds in the amount of $48,337.00 for this Safety Campaign which will occur from July 24, 2023 through September 4, 2023.
The objective of this program is to decrease fatalities and injuries because of motor vehicle crashes caused by speeding and aggressive driving. This funding supports the staffing necessary to allow the Hamden Police Department to dedicate time and resources with the ultimate goal of reducing traffic accident-related deaths, injuries and property damage. With the school year approaching, Police Officers will also focus much of their efforts in school zones and near school bus stops. Please remember to slow down, stay alert, and help keep children safe during the upcoming school year.

In a statement from Mayor Lauren Garrett:
“Thanks to the partnership between the Hamden Police Department and the State of Connecticut, our Officers will spend more time enforcing traffic laws during the lead up to the school year. Please slow down and obey traffic laws to improve the safety of our community.”
