On 7/19/23 at approximately 8:00pm, the Hamden Police Department responded to Price Rite, 1869 Dixwell Avenue, for a report of a street robbery. Officer Joseph Seagren arrived on scene and spoke with the victim, who suffered from a cut on her forehead. The victim stated that she was walking towards Price Rite when a back colored vehicle came up from behind her. The victim stated that the driver of the vehicle, a young male, reached out of the vehicle, grabbed her purse which caused her to fall to the ground.
A short time later, Officer Seagren was advised by the victim that her credit card was used at a store in Hamden. Officer Seagren was able to respond and obtain photographs of the suspects.
During the course of the investigation, and with the assistance of the New Haven Police Department, Officer Seagren was able to obtain the license plate for the vehicle, which was stolen approximately 2 hours earlier out of New Haven. Officer Seagren was also able to obtain the identity of a passenger of the vehicle.
Detective Jenisse Perez-Hernandez assumed the investigation and was assisted by Fairfield Police department in identifying the suspects. The male juvenile, age 14, was issued a Juvenile Summons and was charged with Conspiracy to commit Robbery in the 2nd degree, Larceny in the 2nd degree and credit card theft. The juvenile was given a
court date of July 31st, 2023 at New Haven Superior Court for Juvenile Matters. This investigation remains open and active.
