On September 16th, at approximately 2:30am, Hamden Police Officers responded to the area of 2490 Whitney Avenue for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, Officers located a single motor vehicle that had struck a utility pole. The utility pole, which carried three transformers on it, split in half and fell to the ground. Power was out in the area for a short time, but has since been restored. An environmental company will be responding to clean the transformer oil before any other work can be done. As a result, Whitney Avenue will be closed between Lincoln Street and Day Spring Avenue for the foreseeable future.
The three occupants of the vehicle were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
