On October 5th, 2023 at approximately 9:50am, Hamden Police Officers responded to Congregation Mishkan Israel, 785 Ridge Road, for a report of a bomb threat. The threat was received via email, and the building was evacuated.
The New Haven Police Department Hazardous Device Team, along with Detectives from the Hamden Police Department, responded to the scene. The Hazardous Device Team searched the building and did not find any evidence of explosives inside the facility.
The Hamden Police Department will have increased patrols in the area, and there is no danger at this time. Over the past few months, several Jewish facilities nationwide have received similar threats originating from the same e-mail address. The FBI Cyber Crimes Task Force was contacted and will be investigating the origin of the e-mail.
