On 04/11/24 Hamden Police Officers responded to a Beacon Street address on a 911 call reporting an accidental shooting. Upon arrival Hamden Police Officers found a male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound to his abdomen.
Hamden Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and treated the victim who was conscious and alert. The victim was transported to the hospital where he was listed in stable but critical condition.
Hamden Police officers conducted an investigation and found that the victims son was responsible for the shooting and was experiencing a mental health episode.
Hamden Police Officers arrested Aaron Gambrell (DOB: 05/23/98). Aaron was charged with violation of Connecticut General Statues 53a-59 Assault 1st Degree, and 53a-63 Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree. Aaron was held on a $500,000 bond. Aaron was also transported to the hospital for an evaluation.
This was an isolated domestic incident. There is no danger to the public.
