On May 3, 2024 at approximately 10:52pm, Officers of the Hamden Police Department responded to the area of 2320 Dixwell Avenue for a report of a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, Officers located a female who had been struck by a vehicle. The victim was transported to the hospital. The initial report was that the injuries were not believed to be life threatening. The operator of the vehicle was present at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
At 11:49pm Hamden Police Officers were notified by the hospital that the female who was being treated had died as a result of her injuries. The victims name is not being released at this time pending notification of family.
This incident is an active and open investigation. The Hamden Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team is leading the investigating of this incident. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Sergeant Ferrara at 203-230-4000.
