11/19/2018 - 11/19/18 Arrest of Dandre Deshields – Robbery in the 3rd Degree

On October 9, 2018 Hamden Police responded to Krauszer’s Food Store, 1959 State Street on the report of a “street robbery.”

Investigation revealed that the 19 year-old victim scheduled a meeting with an individual, later identified as Dandre Deshields. The victim planned on selling his cellular telephone to Deshields.

While inside the store, Deshields grabbed the victim’s phone and ran. Prior to exiting the store, Deshields pushed a 60 year-old customer into a glass window. The customer suffered an injury to his elbow. The victim then confronted Deshields in the parking lot. Deshields subsequently “punched” the victim in the head, before fleeing his motor vehicle at a high rate of speed.

Officer Kyle Sampognaro conducted an extensive investigation, which led to the application of an arrest warrant for Deshields. The court approved the arrest warrant application.

On November 16th Deshields, who is registered on the “Deadly Weapon Offender Registry”, was meeting with the Connecticut State Police as a requirement for the Deadly Weapon Offender Registry. He was detained and then turned over to the Hamden Police Department.

Hamden police arrested Dandre Deshields, 21, of 224 Welton Street, 2nd floor, Hamden. He was charged with Robbery in the 3rd Degree and Larceny in the 2nd Degree. Deshields, who was detained on a court-ordered $10,000.00 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on November 30th.
