On November 9, 2018 Hamden Police responded to “Gulf Gas Station”, 1624 Dixwell Avenue on the report of an assault.
Investigation revealed that the victim, a 50 year-old Hamden resident, was involved in a verbal dispute with Jesus Massa-Nunez. Massa-Nunez “became very upset” when the victim was backing his motor vehicle near the gas pumps. Massa-Nunez subsequently removed an ax handle from his vehicle and struck the victim several times in the “torso.” Massa-Nunez fled from the area in a silver minivan.
On November 15th Massa-Nunez responded to Hamden Police Headquarters after observing his photograph on television. Hamden Police had earlier asked for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect. He advised police that he struck the victim in “self-defense.”
Officer Robert O’Neill conducted the investigation, which led to the application of an arrest warrant for Massa-Nunez. The court approved the arrest warrant application.
On December 12th Jesus Massa-Nunez, 42, of 60 Warner Street, Hamden was arrested for Assault in the 2nd Degree and Breach of Peace in the 2nd Degree. Massa-Nunez, who was detained on a $1,000.00 bond, is scheduled to appear at Meriden Superior Court on December 26, 2018.
