On December 12, 2018 at approximately 1:45p.m. Hamden Police responded to the parking lot of a Fairview Avenue business on the report of a stolen motor vehicle.
Investigation revealed that the operator of a Metro Taxi had entered a convenience store, while leaving his unoccupied taxi “running.” When he returned to his taxi shortly thereafter, he noticed that it was missing.
Moments later, the operator of the taxi, a 50 year-old West Haven resident, found it on Pine Rock Avenue. He observed former Metro Taxi employee, Michael Lindsey, “rummaging” through the taxi. Lindsey, who stated that he was in the possession of a firearm, stole a cell phone from inside of the taxi.
Sergeant Michael Doherty and Officer Joseph Venditto located Lindsey inside of a nearby apartment. He was promptly arrested and transported to police headquarters.
Hamden Police arrested Michael Lindsey, 51, of 385 Putnam Avenue, Unit 7, Hamden. He was charged with Robbery in the 1st Degree, Threatening in the 1st Degree, Larceny in the 2nd Degree, Larceny in the 6th Degree and Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree. Lindsey, who was detained on a $50,000.00 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on December 27, 2018.
