On February 9, 2019 at approximately 7:45p.m. Hamden Police responded to “Citgo Gas Station”, 1978 State Street on the report of an armed robbery.
Investigation revealed that a store employee, a 19 year-old Hamden resident, was walking home after closing the gas station. Moments later, he was approached by an individual that was brandishing a firearm. The individual “stuck” the firearm against his stomach, while demanding money. The individual then “pistol-whipped” the victim, striking him on the top of the head. The victim was held at gunpoint and ordered to walk back to the gas station. Once there, the victim was forced to open the cash register and remove the contents. The individual subsequently fled on foot towards Franklin Road.
Sergeant Jason Venditto and his K-9 partner “Knight” conducted a track, which led to the area of Franklin Road. The person responsible for the robbery is described as a black male, 40 years of age, 5’9” to 6’, wearing dark clothing.
