On March 25, 2019 Hamden Police responded to Kohl’s, 2380 Dixwell Avenue on the report of shoplifting.

Investigation revealed that a Hispanic female, 5’8”, medium build, dark hair, wearing a dark coat, stole several “fragrance items.” The stolen merchandise is valued at $182.00. The female exited the store and entered a Jeep that was operated by Jose Irizarry. Irizarry, who was unaware of the theft, was paid by the female to drive her to Kohl’s. The vehicle subsequently fled southbound on Dixwell Avenue.

Moments later, Irizarry returned to Kohl’s. Further investigation revealed that he was wanted on an arrest warrant originating out of New Haven. In addition, Hamden Police arrested him for Interfering with a Police Officer and Criminal Impersonation. Irizarry, 42, of East Haven is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on April 9th.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the female shoplifter is asked to call Officer Gabriel Garcia of the Hamden Police Department Patrol Division at (203) 230-4030.
