On January 13, 2019 Hamden Police responded to a Newhall Street residence on the report of a burglary.
Investigation revealed that Rafly Santiago forcibly entered the residence and stole jewelry and electronic equipment, valued at nearly $10,000.00. The homeowner had confronted Santiago, who was hiding inside of her bedroom. He subsequently fled on foot with the stolen items.
Officer Jeremy Brewer conducted the investigation, which led to the application of an arrest warrant for Santiago. The court approved the arrest warrant application.
On April 11th Detective Donald Remillard arrested Santiago on Morse Street. Santiago, 30, of 309 Cook Avenue, Meriden was charged with Burglary in the 2nd Degree, Larceny in the 3rd Degree and Criminal Trespass in the 3rd Degree. Santiago, who was detained on a court-ordered $50,000.00 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on April 22nd.
