On June 13, 2019 the Hamden Police Department Street Interdiction Team assisted the State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection Liquor Control Division with “liquor sale compliance checks.” The purpose of this endeavor was to determine if local businesses are in compliance with state laws concerning the sale of alcoholic beverages, as it relates to minors.
Officers conducted compliance checks at 7 businesses. Four establishments sold alcoholic beverages to a person under 21 years of age. They are:
- Happy Harry’s Wine and Liquor – 956 Dixwell Avenue
- Chapman’s Liquor Store – 432 Shelton Avenue
- North Mart Package Store – 2380 Dixwell Avenue
- The Liquor Mart – 3837 Whitney Avenue
The businesses that were in violation of state law were referred to the Liquor Control Division
