On June 28, 2019 at approximately 11:00p.m. Hamden Police responded to the corner of Shepard Avenue and Howard Drive on the report of a threatening that was occurring on a Connecticut Transit bus.  Central Communications had received a report that a male “pulled a knife out on people on the bus.” Furthermore, that there were children on the bus. 

Moments later, Officers arrested Alonzo Humphrey. He was in the possession of a pocket knife. Humphrey, who was uncooperative, was transported to police headquarters.

Investigation revealed that 3 juveniles, ages 11, 14 and 17 were threatened by Humphrey. He asked the juveniles if they wanted to “smoke and drink” with him. Alonzo then unexpectedly pulled his pants down and exposed his buttocks. He then “pulled out a knife on them.” The bus driver immediately stopped the bus.

Hamden Police arrested Alonzo Humphrey, 48, of 339 Eastern Street, Apartment B1, New Haven. He was charged with Threatening in the 2nd Degree and Breach of Peace in the 2nd Degree. Humphrey, who was detained on a $1,000.00 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on July 12th.
