On April 30, 2014 Hamden Police responded to the report of a “burglary in progress” at a Dest Drive residence.
Investigation revealed that 3 males had entered the home through an unlocked door, while the homeowner was in an upstairs bedroom. The homeowner confronted one of the subjects, Lawrence Benson, who was in the possession of a firearm. Benson and his two accomplices subsequently fled on foot.
Detective Brian Stewart conducted an extensive investigation, which led to the application of an arrest warrant for Benson. The court approved the arrest warrant application.
On August 27, 2019 Hamden Police arrested Benson at Norwich Superior Court. Benson, 24, of 81 Norwich Avenue, Norwich was charged with Burglary in the 1st Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Burglary in the 1st Degree, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon, Larceny in the 6th Degree and Conspiracy to Commit Larceny in the 6th Degree. Benson, who was detained on a court-ordered $5,000.00 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on September 10th.
