10/3/2019 - 10/3/19- Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident - 2900 Block-State Street

On October 2, 2019 at approximately 8:30p.m. Hamden Police responded to the 2900 block of State Street on the report of a motor vehicle accident.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a motor vehicle, operated by Moet Bacote, was traveling southbound on State Street. It appears that Bacote’s vehicle crossed the double-yellow center line and collided with a “box truck” that was operated by a 26 year-old Middlefield resident. Both vehicles sustained “heavy front-end damage.”

Bacote, 25, of New Haven was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital by American Medical Response with life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter. The Middlefield resident was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital with serious injuries.

State Street was closed for nearly 7 hours.
