On October 11, 2019 at approximately 12:45p.m. Officer Ronald Glifort observed a male standing in the middle of Putnam Avenue “trying to flag down vehicles.” Simultaneously, he observed another male walking towards him. The male standing in the street advised Officer Glifort that the other male attempted to rob him at gunpoint.
The robbery suspect, who was later identified as Amaadi Cole, subsequently fled on foot on the Farmington Canal Trail. Officer Glifort chased Cole on foot, through a heavily wooded area. The pursuit continued over a fence and “through a thick, overgrown area of brush.” Officer Glifort, who sustained “several cuts and scrapes”, apprehended Cole in the parking lot of a Gallagher Road business.
Officer William May and his K-9 partner “Blaze” conducted a thorough search of the wooded area and located a loaded firearm. Further investigation revealed that Cole “shoved” the firearm into the lower back of the 26 year-old victim.
Hamden Police arrested Amaadi Nasseem Cole, 24, of 171 Warner Street, Hamden. He was charged with Robbery in the 1st Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Interfering with a Police Officer. Cole, who was detained on a $50,000.00 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on October 25th.
