On December 27, 2019 at approximately 9:00p.m. Hamden Police responded to Express Fuel, 1126 Dixwell Avenue on the report of “shots fired.”

Upon arrival officers located Corey Gomes, 35, of Hamden suffering from a gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigation revealed that Pharoh Jackson, 20, of New Haven attempted to rob Gomes at gunpoint. A physical altercation ensued, at which time Jackson fired several rounds, killing Gomes. Jackson subsequently fled from the area in a motor vehicle “with at least one other occupant.”

Detective Matthew Barbuto conducted the investigation, which led to the application of an arrest warrant for Jackson. The court approved the arrest warrant application.

This morning, members of the Hamden Police Department Major Crimes Unit, with the assistance of the Bridgeport Police Department and the United States Marshal Service Connecticut Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Jackson.

Pharoh Jackson, 20, of Sherman Parkway, New Haven was charged with Murder in the Commission of a Felony and Robbery in the 1st Degree. Jackson, who is being detained on a $2,000,000.00 court-ordered bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on January 6, 2020.
