On December 24th at approximately 10:30a.m. Hamden Police responded to West Helen Street on the report of a stolen motor vehicle. The victim was “warming up her vehicle” which was parked in the driveway, when it was stolen.

Shortly thereafter, Sergeant David Ng observed the vehicle on Wintergreen Avenue. Sergeant Ng attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop. The vehicle, which contained 3 occupants, fled into New Haven. The vehicle subsequently collided with a parked vehicle in the vicinity of Austen Street. The 3 occupants fled on foot.

Moments later, Sergeant Ng apprehended one of the occupants. A second individual was arrested with the assistance of the New Haven Police Department and Southern Connecticut State University Police Department. A search for the third individual was unsuccessful.

Hamden Police arrested 2 juveniles, ages 15 and 16, that reside in Hamden. They were charged with Larceny in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Trover and Interfering with a Police Officer. One of the juveniles was also charged with Engaging a Police Officer in Pursuit. The juveniles are scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court in New Haven on January 12, 2018.
