The Hamden Police Department would like to alert our residents and residents in surrounding communities of telephone scams involving the coronavirus.
If you receive a telephone call from an alleged charity asking for cash or a gift card, it’s more than likely a scam. Please do not mail or wire money and/or gift cards in these instances. In addition, there have been various phishing schemes involving email and texts. Scammers are making a valiant effort to obtain your personal information. If you are suspicious, research the company or contact them by telephone. Some of these phishing schemes are quite sophisticated.
Hamden residents are urged to contact the Hamden Police Department at (203) 230-4000 if they have questions or concerns with regards to potential scams.
