On April 1, 2020 at approximately 2:30a.m. Officer Keron Bryce observed a motor vehicle violation in the vicinity of Dixwell Avenue and Scott Street. He subsequently conducted a motor vehicle stop on Langer Street.
Upon approaching the vehicle, Officer Bryce smelled marijuana emanating from inside. Investigation led to the search of the vehicle. Officer Bryce located a loaded 9mm handgun, underneath the passenger’s seat. A bag of marijuana was also located inside of the vehicle.
As Officer Bryce attempted to handcuff the passenger, Jquan Christie, Christie “pushed” him and began running eastbound on Langer Street. Officer Bryce apprehended him after a short foot pursuit. Christie was transported to Hamden Police Headquarters.
A computer inquiry indicated that the 9mm handgun was reported stolen in Bridgeport.

He was charged with Weapons in a Motor Vehicle, Carrying a Pistol without a Permit, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of Marijuana and Interfering with a Police Officer. Christie, who was detained on a $50,000.00 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on May 20th.
