On April 14, 2020 at approximately 6:00a.m. Hamden Police responded to the parking lot, located at 2100 Dixwell Avenue on the report of a carjacking.
Investigation revealed that a 74-year-old Shop Rite employee was seated inside of his motor vehicle, moments from reporting to duty. He was approached by an individual, described as a black male, wearing a “black skull cap”, mask and red shirt. The male ordered him out of his vehicle. A second male then entered the vehicle. They were last observed traveling southbound on Dixwell Avenue.
Shortly thereafter, New Haven Police advised Hamden Police that the stolen vehicle had crashed in the area of Roydon Road and Goffe Terrace. The occupants fled on foot.
The Hamden Police Department Detective Division is conducting the investigation.
