On April 25, 2020 at approximately 4:15p.m. Hamden Police responded to a Park Road residence on the report of a “fight in progress.” Officers were advised that an individual had forcibly entered a resident’s home and was assaulting him.

Moments later, Officer Robert O’Neill and Officer Kyle Sampognaro located the suspect, Johnnie Tyson, in the area of State Street and Armstrong Street. He was arrested and transported to police headquarters.

Investigation revealed that Tyson forcibly entered a Park Road residence. Once inside, he was confronted by the homeowner, who asked him to leave. Tyson then began assaulting the homeowner. He eventually left the residence.

Once outside, Tyson damaged another resident’s motor vehicle. When the owner of the motor vehicle confronted Tyson, he was assaulted. Tyson then attempted to forcibly enter 2 other homes.

Hamden Police arrested Johnnie Tyson, 44, of 250 Lexington Avenue, Apartment 2, New Haven. He was charged with Burglary in the 1st Degree, Criminal Attempt to Commit Burglary in the 2nd Degree, 2 counts of Assault in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree and Risk of Injury to a Minor. Tyson will be scheduled to appear in court at a later date and time.
