On June 11th the Hamden Police Department responded to 4 violent crimes, that occurred in the span of 1 hour and 4 minutes.

The first incident occurred at a Giles Street residence at approximately 4:15p.m. Two females were approached by “2 young black males”, while standing in a driveway. One of the males pointed a firearm at them and demanded their belongings. One of the victims reached for a telephone, at which time the 2 subjects fled in a stolen motor vehicle.

Four minutes later, a female parked her vehicle in the parking lot of 1744 Dixwell Avenue. Two black males “pulled next” to her vehicle. One of the males “tapped on her window” with a firearm. The victim subsequently fled from the scene at a high rate of speed.

Six minutes thereafter, officers responded to 2300 Dixwell Avenue on the report of an armed street robbery. As the victim entered his vehicle, he was approached by a “young black male” that was brandishing a firearm. The male ordered him out of his vehicle. The gunman and another juvenile subsequently stole the vehicle, fleeing towards Dixwell Avenue.

At approximately 5:20p.m., Hamden Police responded to an armed street robbery in the parking lot of 1890 Dixwell Avenue. While entering her vehicle, the victim was approached by a black male that pointed a firearm at her. The male stole her pocketbook and cell phone. He fled from the scene in a dark-colored SUV, southbound on Dixwell Avenue.

The Hamden Police Department has increased patrols due to this rash of violence. The Hamden Police Department Detective Division is working collaboratively with the New Haven Police Department with regards to these criminal acts.
