On June 16, 2020 Hamden Police responded to a residence on the report of “neighbor trouble.”

Upon arrival, officers learned that a middle-aged man had locked himself in his bedroom. He had threatened to shoot any police officer that entered.

Members of the Hamden Police Department’s Crisis Intervention Team and Hostage Negotiation Team engaged in a dialogue with the individual, which lasted approximately 3 hours. During the conversation, officers ascertained that the individual was in dire need of medical care. Officers subsequently developed a plan, which allowed them to safely gain entry into the bedroom.

The individual was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
