On June 19th Hamden Police responded to the area of Fitch Street and Arch Street on the report of an unwanted person/stalking.
Moments later, Officer Justin Martin located the suspect, Tywan Shuford, hiding inside of a motor vehicle. Shuford was subsequently taken into custody. Officers located a backpack next to Shuford. Inside the backpack was a loaded .45 caliber handgun, that was reported stolen in Farmington in 2016.
Hamden Police arrested Tywan Shuford, 30, of 59 Rock Creek Road, New Haven. He was charged with Stalking in the 2nd Degree, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Theft of a Firearm and Weapon in a Motor Vehicle.
In addition, Shuford was arrested on the strength of 3 arrest warrants. He was additionally charged with 2 counts of Strangulation in the 2nd Degree, Burglary in the 2nd Degree, Threatening in the 2nd Degree, Assault in the 3rd Degree, Disorderly Conduct and 2 counts of Breach of Peace. Shuford appeared in court on June 22nd.
