On August 3, 2020 at approximately 5:30a.m. Hamden Police responded to 395 Treadwell Street on the report of a “vehicle into a building.”
Investigation revealed that the vehicle had crashed into the corner of the building. The vehicle, which was reported stolen out of Madison, was unoccupied. The accident caused extensive damage to the building and the stolen vehicle.
Officers subsequently responded to a nearby neighborhood, in an attempt to locate a local juvenile, that has stolen numerous vehicles in the past. Moments later, Officer Keron Bryce observed the juvenile on Wheeler Street, operating a vehicle, that was stolen out of Westport. A motor vehicle stop was conducted and the juvenile was arrested.
The 16 year-old Hamden resident was charged with Larceny in the 1st Degree and Operating without a License. He is scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court in New Haven.
The investigation is continuing in an attempt to ascertain the identity of the operator of the stolen vehicle that crashed into 395 Treadwell Street.
